PROJECT DESCRIPTION:

This project consisted of the removal of existing walls and subsequent new fitout works to provide an
open plan work area for Curtin University Staff.
This project ran into problems outside of the original scope of works when an investigation of an
existing high-level domes skylight uncovered extensive water damage to existing ceilings and walls,
incorrect fixing methods of the adjacent bulkhead to the main building structure, and poor
workmanship to the existing skylight.
Remedial works to the skylight and surrounding ceilings had to be carried out in order to prevent
damage in the future to the new fitout works, which meant the installation of final flooring and
furniture were delayed until these works were complete.
However the client and The Slatter Group WA were in co-operation throughout the works in order to
minimise the delay for the end user moving into the space, and the all parties were extremely pleased
with the final outcome, which has led to continuous work with the same Client, Architect and Project
Manager.
