Aquinas College Boarding House Precint

Dvelop Project Solutions was excited to be part of the Aquinas College Boarding House Precinct refurbishment project. Our role involved managing the refurbishment of three existing two-storey boarding houses at Aquinas College as part of a broader expansion project by the college. This expansion project included civil upgrades, site services upgrades, and the construction of a new boarding house, which we delivered as a design and construct service.

The initial phase of the refurbishment entailed the complete demolition of internal brick walls, ceilings, fittings, and fixtures. We also removed sections of the roof to install two large glass skylights, requiring significant structural modifications to support the new skylights. Once the demolition work was complete, we installed new face brick walls to create modern bedrooms, recreation rooms, and common areas. Additionally, we were responsible for installing new ceilings, joinery, windows, tiling, floor coverings, and other fittings and fixtures to provide comfortable and updated boarding accommodations for the students. Furthermore, we refurbished eight existing bathrooms and constructed two new ones.

One of the primary challenges of this project was the tight timeline. To align with the college’s upgrade program, the boarding house had to be completed within just 20 weeks, with one to two weeks allocated for mobilization and student transfers between each boarding house. To ensure we met this deadline, Dvelop Project Solutions deployed a dedicated site supervisor and project manager to efficiently manage procurement of lead-time items and coordinate subcontractors on site.
